Axel P. Manning (aka Axe Man) is Al's DayZ character who first appears in TuesDayZ - Axe Man! - Part 1.

Upon logging on the game at the start of the video, Al is immediately attacked by another player with a pitchfork. Al responds by pulling out his fire axe, and charging the other player yelling "Axe Man away!". After killing the other player and dying from excessive blood loss, Axe Man is re-birthed on the beach, given a "sign from the gods" by a nearby falcon, and vows to reclaim his glory by slamming in the faces of small children.

He continues in a cycle of death, dying several times in various videos, although he is always seen alive at the beginning of a new video.

In Fallout New Vegas, Al acquires a companion version of Axe Man and takes him along with his other companions during both the Attack of Titans and TitanFallout mod reviews, where he and the gang fight enlarged versions of regular enemies, such as ghouls and deathclaws. He is alive at the end of the mod review.

He rejoins Al as a companion in Fallout New Vegas Mods: Nipton Rebuilt - Part 1, where it is revealed that his companion mod had been expanded with a new quest, although it was not going to be reviewed until sometime in the future.

He returns in the subsequent mod review, New Vegas Mods: Halo Armor & Star Trek Phasers - 1, where he confuses Steve for a small man. He remains with Al for the review, implying he may join Al again for a while, or at least until his new personal mod is reviewed.

Al plays the extended version of Axe Man's mod in New Vegas Mods: Axe Man's Past - Part 1, in which we learn Axe Man's backstory and his previous experiences in the Mojave. After getting him as a companion again, Al is sent to the Crimson Caravan company by Axe Man to acquire a list of merchants, one of whom he wishes to find. After gaining information from the man he was seeking, the gang heads around the wasteland and recovers pieces of information that reveal Axe Man's past. Once collecting all of the holotapes, they head to a bunker to collect his old weapons, which are then revealed to be stolen. This plot would not be picked up again until New Vegas Mods: Axe Man! - Part 1.

Axe Man makes a final appearance in New Vegas Montages: Farewell New Vegas, having been captured by the Business Radroaches and the Radios. When he first sees Al in the bunker, he calls the guards over, calling him a bald baby. He is eventually freed by Al and assists him in taking down the Business Radroaches in the bunker before leaving with the rest of Al's secondary companions, heading out into the wasteland while Al promises to save the Mojave.

In New Vegas Mods: Axe Man! - Part 1, he was recaptured by the Radios, but escaped to Goodsprings. Crier Breach then found him and recruited him to recapture him under the guise of Al, but then heard about a tape about Axe Man. They then go out to find more about his past. He was part of a freelance mercenary group called the Road Fuckers, who were all killed except for the spy that helped to destroy it and Axe Man. they go on an adventure to find the weapons of the old members and bury them in their respective graves.

  • Axe Man may have originally evolved from Shovel Man, another of Al's DayZ personas that was quickly killed by another player.
  • Axe Man has a shittier cousin named Batman.
  • Axe Man cannot read.
  • Axe Man was trained by his father.
  • Axe Man once took on three (soon four) zombies with an apple.
  • For the majority of the time, Axe Man does not wear pants.
  • Axe Man does not like ghosts, likely because he was killed by them in a ship accident.
  • Axe Man ends up unknowingly befriending Jeff, the player that he fought at the beginning of the episode.
  • In TuesDayZ - Robolegs!, Axe Man was killed after he willingly agreed to get shot in the ankle, arm, and head in an experiment by another player.
  • An Axe Man companion mod for Fallout New Vegas was created. Al reviewed this mod during Fallout New Vegas Mods: Attack of Titans.
  • The Axe Man companion mod is completely voiced by Al, his most notable line being his chant of his own name, "Axe Man".
  • Axe Man appeared again in Fallout New Vegas Mods: TitanFallout - Part 1, indicating that he might become a new main companion. Since then, he has been featured in several of Al's videos, though what he does in between appearances is unknown. (Though he is now allegedly working for a fellow YouTuber, Ollyoxen in some capacity.)
  • Axe Man makes a cameo in Indie Sunday! - Sir, You Are Being Hunted, destroying hunter killer robots in a northern European archipelago, however is killed by blood loss from a shotgun wound.
  • He made a cameo in Fallout New Vegas Mods: Thomas Pinkerton Revengence - 1 during the Companion Party hosted by Sizzler, where he was seen dancing with Herbert.
  • Axe Man is actually the third reincarnation of Tanya Bagorshka.
  • His brother appears in New Vegas Mods: BlackWater - Part 1, under the name of The Wood Cutter. Crier Breach ends up killing him.
  • Axe Man appears to have started working for the Radio-Radroach alliance as a bodyguard for Crier Breach.
  • Axe Man appears to have developed the ability to resist the Groovatron's powers, making him one of the very few able to do so.
  • Axe Man has stated that he no longer needs to obey the commands of Crier Breach, (often demonstrating so by outright refusing to fight along side him unless directly attacked.) suggesting he is either breaking free from possible conditioning by the Radio-Radroach Alliance or is beginning to realize that the Crier is not the real Breach.
